World Mental Health Day

Theme: It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace

World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10th, is a globally recognized event that aims to raise awareness about mental health issues, promote mental health education, and advocate for policies that improve mental well-being. Established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992, the day provides a platform for conversations around mental health that span across various sectors—healthcare, education, government, and civil society.

Why It Matters

Mental health is central to overall well-being, yet it often receives less attention than physical health. The day serves as a reminder that mental health is just as important, and the stigma surrounding mental illness must be broken. Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and stress affect millions of people globally, with an even greater impact seen in vulnerable groups like adolescents, women, and people living in low-resource settings.
