University Mental Health
An accessible mental health support system inside the university, not bolted on beside it.
The programme builds an accessible mental health support system within the university — promoting wellbeing, raising awareness and providing effective interventions. By embedding mental health education into campus culture and offering professional support, it works to reduce stigma and equip students with coping skills, resilience and resources throughout their studies.
Why university
The transition to higher education can be overwhelming: academic pressure, social adjustment, financial strain and personal challenges together leave students vulnerable to stress, anxiety and depression. With one in five students facing a mental health condition, accessible services, education and support at university level are essential.
This programme creates a supportive environment for students, prioritising mental wellbeing through counselling, awareness work and peer support initiatives.
Project objectives
To create a comprehensive and accessible mental health support system within the university that promotes wellbeing, raises awareness of mental health issues, and provides effective intervention services. Integrating mental health education into campus culture alongside professional support reduces stigma and equips students with the coping skills, resilience and resources to maintain their wellbeing throughout their academic journey.
