Information, education and advocacy
Serve as a platform for accurate mental health information and for advocacy that shifts how mental illness is understood in Lagos.
Lagos State's Mental Health in Development project, grounded in the national philosophy of social justice and equity.
Our purpose
Lagos MiND sits within the Lagos State Ministry of Health. It exists to make mental health a normal part of health service delivery, public conversation and policy across the state — not a specialist concern handled somewhere out of sight.
The project runs services, builds workforce capacity, commissions research and works with partners across government, academia, civil society and the private sector.
What we set out to do
Serve as a platform for accurate mental health information and for advocacy that shifts how mental illness is understood in Lagos.
Create cross-collaboration and partnerships with local and international stakeholders working in mental health.
Facilitate adoption and delivery of the Mental Health Gap Action Programme across all primary health centres, with the Federal Ministry of Health and the State Primary Health Care Board.
Improve the capacity and infrastructure needed for effective mental health systems and service delivery statewide.
Where to next
How Lagos MiND began and what it has grown into.
The people running the programmes and answering the phones.
The institutions we work alongside across Lagos and beyond.
