Community-Based Training For Action (CBT4A)

The Community Based Training 4 Action is a community-based mental health capacity development strategy designed to build a responsive base of non-specialist caregivers and gatekeepers. This is also in line with the Task Shifting/Task Sharing Policy of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and involves bespoke training modules which equip beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills needed to understand presentations of common mental health, develop positive approaches for promoting their mental wellbeing and that of other community members. The target groups are diverse and include First Responders, Teachers, Community Associations, Religious Groups, and Corporate Organizations amongst others.

The goal is to raise Mental Health Champions that can provide first-level support for community members, share accurate knowledge that can dispel stigma and lead social campaigns that improve health seeking behaviour.
